Metal Detector Ground Balancing – the key to hidden treasure

How to Perform Ground Balancing

Some Metal Deectors or 3D Detectors are capable of performing in two different types of grounds , Magnetic (parks and goldfields) and Conductive (wet areas, salt water beach). Ground mineralisation may cause false target signals in all environments.

Ground balancing the detector reduces these ground signals and enables good targets to be displayed and/or heard correctly.

Ground Balancing on Normal Ground:

Ground Balance is suitable for most neutral soils and dry sand use and operates when beach icon is turned Off. An unbalanced detector in Coin & Treasure Mode with blink continously (if a pattern rejecting -8 is used) or detect -8 continously (if a pattern accepting -8 is used). An unbalanced detector in Prospecting Mode will produce a continous ‘warbling’ sound that diffres from the sharper sound of a real target signal.

Ground Balancing on wet Ground(beach):

Ground balance (beach) is suitable for salt water beach use and operates when beach icon is turned On.In Ground Balance(beach) the detector can Ground Balance any combination of magnetic and conductive soil. However, ferrous and some low conductivity targets can be balanced out.

For this reason, in ground balance(beach), tracking should be used only when targets are far apart.

Adjusting Ground Balance

The Ground Balance setting can be adjusted in three ways : automatically, manually or with Tracking. Auto Ground balance will generally give a good Ground Balance setting. This may be further adjusted manually, using the + and – buttons.

Steps:
1. Press ” Ground Balance”.
2. Adjust Ground Balance with Auto, Manual or Track options.
3. Press Pinpoint/detect or Ground Balance to return to detection.

Note:
When detecting on the beach, adjusting Ground Balance may not give significant improvements. Try adjusting Sensitivity and altering Patterns for best results.
